Shimmer and Shine
This panoramic image of Sylvan Lake’s shoreline features the iconic lighthouse and rare noctilucent clouds.
Modelled after Nova Scotia’s famous Peggy’s Cove lighthouse, this icon of Sylvan Lake shines daily after dark in changing colours.
Noctilucent, or night shining, clouds are tenuous cloud-like phenomena in the upper atmosphere visible at northern latitudes when conditions are favourable.
I have been fortunate to observe the shimmering and ethereal noctilucent clouds on several occasions.
To be able to capture such a beautiful, electric blue sky together with Sylvan’s lighthouse was a special and memorable experience for me, and so worthy of sharing!
