The Forest for the Trees
Often when I look at elements of a scene, I compare them to aspects of real, everyday life.
When I saw the stunning sunlight illuminating sections of the trees along the mountain slope, I realized that the true beauty of the scene lay in the entirety of the forest, not in the individual trees.
The forest as a whole provides habitat and food for a wide variety of wildlife, supporting biodiversity and a healthy ecosystem. The forest as a whole engages our senses, from the sound of rustling leaves and birdsong to the earthy scent of the forest floor and the feel of cool, moss-covered rocks.
When we allow ourselves to perceive the big picture or overall situation, to see the forest for the trees, we gain perspective and a better understanding of the broader context.
