Ripple Effect

It started out as a calm day. The smooth surface of the lake was reflecting these flooded trees with remarkable clarity.

But then a gentle breeze, or perhaps it was the strokes of a kayaker’s paddle, created a ripple that disturbed the stillness … but in the most fascinating of ways. It was the ripples, not the stillness, that drew me in to this scene.

We have all likely observed the effects of a rock thrown into a calm lake. The splash of the rock creates a series of concentric circles that radiate outward, the ripples expanding and intersecting with each other. Eventually, the energy dissipates, but the effects linger, subtly altering the surface of the water and the surrounding environment.

Much like this ripple effect, our actions, no matter how small, can have far-reaching consequences, shaping the world around us in ways both seen and unseen.
